Our prediction for this Serie A match:
Fiorentina will be looking make amends for a 2-1 loss to Sampdoria when they host Spezia at their Stadio Artemio Franchi on Friday evening. The Viola aim to put an end to their three-game winless run in the Serie A, but the game against Spezia will be anything but a walk in the park for the home team. The good news for the hosts is that Morocco international Amrabat returns from suspension, while France veteran Ribery remains in the recovery room.
The Bianconeri, on the other hand, have been in a splendid form of late, with the team beating Sassuolo on the road and Milan at home. Spezia aim to move one step closer to securing the Serie A survival, but, no doubt, they would be happy with one point from Friday’s clash. Both Erlic and Bastoni are banned for the visitors, while Ferrer, Farias, and Terzi are sidelined with injuries.
Highlighted Player (Franck Ribery):
After playing for the likes of Boulougne, Ales, Brest and Metz in France, Frank Ribery joined Galatasaray in 2005, but he spent no more than six months at the club. The French winger, who was born on 7 April, 1983, returned to Ligue 1, signing a deal with Olympique Marseille. Ribery scored 11 goals in 60 league appearances for the OM and Bayern Munich scouts spotted him during the 2006/2007 season.
The French footballer signed a four-year deal with the Bavarians on 7 June, 2007 for a fee of €25 million. Ribery has been playing for the German giants ever since and it has to be noted that he won his sixth Bundesliga trophy in the 2015/2016 season and the Champions League title in 2013.
The Bayern Munich ace played for France at the 2006 FIFA World Cup and he made it to the final of the tournament with les Tricolores. He has 13 caps for France U21 team. Ribery’s younger brothers Francois and Steven are footballers as well.
Highlighted Team (Spezia):
Spezia is a professional Italian club based in Spezia, Liguria. The Bianconeri secured promotion to the Serie A in the 2019/20 season, with the team beating Frosinone in the Serie B playoffs final. Spezia are well known for their black and white home jerseys, and black is the dominant colour of their away kit.
The club’s home ground Stadio Alberto Picco has the capacity of 10,336 people. The venue was opened back in 1919, with architect Gregotti being in charge of the project. In 2002 the club chiefs decided to reach an agreement with Inter which saw Spezia become Inter’s feeder club.
As a result, the likes of Goran Pandev, Aco Stojkov, and Alex Cordaz joined the Bianconeri in the first season. Spezia then suffered a bankruptcy, but in 2008 they were re-founded. In the 2020/21 season the Bianconeri will compete in the Italian elite division for the first time ever.
