Our prediction for this Netherlands Eredivisie match:
Seacon Stadion – De Koel will host Sunday’s football game between Venlo and Heerenveen, the two teams with entirely different ambitions in the remainder of the season. Venlo’s main goal is to secure the Eredivisie survival, while Heerenveen are eyeing a place in European competitions. The hosts have been showing signs of improvement of late, with the team beating both Willem II and Den Haag in the previous two league fixtures, and given Heerenveen’s current form, we believe that punters can find value in betting on the relegation-threatened team.
De Superfriezen failed to win the previous nine league fixtures. Heerenveen failed to impress in a 1-1 draw with RKC on Thursday evening, and given the importance of the match for the hosts, we predict that the visitors are going to return home empty-handed. Midfielder Evert Linthorst is injured for the hosts, while there are no absentees in the away team.
Highlighted Player (Danny Post):
Born in Amsterdam, Netherlands, Danny Post is a Dutch footballer who plays for VVV-Venlo as a midfielder. Post started his senior career Haarlem, but after making no more than 14 appearances with the club, he joined Groningen in 2009.
The Dutch footballer player only one league game for the Green and White Army as he was loaned to Cambuur in 2010. The next stop in his career was Dordrecht, where he established himself as a first-team regular. After scoring four goals in 50 league appearances for the club, Danny Post moved to VVV-Venlo in 2013. Post made his VVV debut in a goalless draw with Eindhovan on August 2, 2013.
He scored his first goal for the club in a 3-0 win over Achilles ’29 on March 9, 2014. His main position is defensive midfield, but he is capable of producing fine displays as both central midfielder and centre-back. His preferred foot is right.
Highlighted Team (Heerenveen):
Heerenveen is a Dutch football club that is well known for their white shirts with blue stripes. De Superfriezen (The Super Frisians) play home matches at Abe Lenstra Stadium, which has the capacity of 26,400 people.
Heerenveen have yet to win the Eredivisie title, but they impressed in the 1999/00 season, with the team finishing the process in second position in the standings. Thanks to a top-two finish, the club booked their place in the Champions League. Heerenveen, though, recorded only one in the group stages of the elite competition as they defeated Olympiakos 1-0 at home ground. De Superfizien retain a fierce rivals with Cambuur, and there have always been fireworks in clashes between the two teams.
It has to be noted that Heerenveen won the Dutch Cup in the 2008/09 season, with the team beating Twente on penalties in the title game. New Chelsea signing Hakim Ziyech played for Heerenveen at the start of his senior career.
