Our prediction for this Netherlands Eredivisie match:
After sharing the spoils with Groningen on Matchday 17, Twente will be looking to return to winning ways in the Eredivisie when they take on VVV-Venlo at their De Grolsch Veste. The Reds aim to keep their Europa League hopes alive, but you should bear in mind that they are on a four-game losing run at home ground. Twente will not have a better chance than this to return to winning ways on home soil, and we are positive that they will go all guns blazing at Venlo.
The visitors, on the other hand, have been producing fine displays in 2021, with the team beating both Willem II and Den Haag, while sharing the spoils with Heerenveen. Anyhow, we are tempted to put our money on Twente, who should have grabbed something from a 3-1 loss to Ajax in their last home fixture.
Highlighted Player (Joel Drommel):
Born on November 16, 1996, Joel Drommel is a Dutch footballer who plays for Twente as a goalkeeper. Drommel played for IJsselmeervogels youth team when Twente scouts spotted him. The shot-stopper was immediately brought to Enschede, and he has been playing for the Reds ever since.
He made his Eredivisie debut in September 2015 in a 2-2 draw with Ajax. Joel Drommel has 18 appearances with Jong FC Twente as well. Speaking of his international career, the talented goalkeeper has four caps with the Netherlands U21 team. He represented the Oranje at the UEFA U21 Championship in Italy 2019, making two appearances at the tournament.
It has to be noted that Joel Drommel used to play as a midfielder before turning goalkeeper. His fother Piet-Jan Drommel was a footballer as well, playing for the like of AZ Alkmaar and SC Telstar during his career. Joel Drommel is 193cm tall.
Highlighted Team (Venlo):
Based on the Dutch-German border, VVV-Venlo is a Dutch football club that plays in the Eredivisie. The club was founded on February 7, 1903 under the name of Venlose Voetbal Vereniging, and it’s considered one of the oldest clubs in Dutch football.
VVV Venlo are well known for their yellow shirts and black shorts, and, as a result, they are often called the Yellow Black Army. Venlo play home games at De Koel, the stadium which is able to hold up to 8,000 spectators.
Japan international Keisuke Honda is one of the most notable international footballers who played for the club. However, Honda is not the only Japanese player to wear the yellow jersey as the likes of Maya Yoshida, Robert Cullen, and Yuki Otsu played for the club as well. Roda JC are seen as one of the club’s main rivals, with the two clubs facing each other in the Limburgse derby.
