Our prediction for this Norway Eliteserien match:
Saturday’s football game at SR-Bank Arena pits together Viking and Brann, the two top-table sides. Viking aim to build on a 3-1 win over Sarpsborg 08, but they face a difficult task in the round 11 clash. Forward Sander Svendsen is pushing for a start after scoring as a substitute in the last league match, while midfielder Jost Urbancic misses out with a broken foot.
Eirik Horneland’s troops, on the other hand, aim to keep their title hopes alive as they are ten points behind league leaders Bodo in the Eliteserien table. Since Brann will go for a win as well, we are tempted to put our money on both teams to score. As for the away team, forward Selland Heggebo remains on the sidelines with a leg injury. Midfielder Nilsen should keep his place in the starting XI despite failing to convert a penalty in a 2-2 draw with Lillestrom before the international break.
Highlighted Team (Viking):
Founded back in 1899, Viking are both one of the oldest and the most successful Norwegian teams. The dark blues won their eight domestic trophy in 1991, but they have not been as successful in the 21st century.
Viking won the Norwegian Cup on five occasions (1953, 1959, 1979, 1989, 2001) and knocking Chelsea out of the UEFA Cup during the 2002/2003 season is considered the team’s best achievement in European competitions.
