Our prediction for this MLS match:
Los Angeles FC will look to retain second place in the Western Conference when they take on Real Salt Lake on Monday morning. The Black and Gold are eyeing their tenth home win of the process and they are likely to fight tooth and nail against the Royals. Steve Cherundolo has a luxury to field the best possible side against Real Salt Lake.
The Royals, on the other hand, have regained a much-needed confidence thanks to a 2-1 win over Vancouver Whitecaps on home soil, but seeing that they were beaten by both Portland Timbers and San Jose Earthquakes in the last two away games, we are tempted to put our money on the home side. Both Erik Holt and Pablo Ruiz are sidelined with injuries, speaking of the visiting team. When the two teams met in the League Cup last month Los Angeles FC crushed Real Salt Lake 4-0.
Highlighted Player (Carlos Vela):
Over the years Carlos Vela has established himself as one of best Mexican players. Vela was born in Cancun, Mexico, on March 1, 1989 and he played for Guadalajara before joining Arsenal youth school in 2005. The pacey left-footed winger played only 29 games for the Gunners in the Premier League before signing a deal with Real Sociedad.
Carlos Vela played for the likes of Celta Vigo, Salamanca, Osasuna and WBA on loan as well before joining the Basque outfit. Nowadays, the Mexican forward is a Los Angeles FC player and it has to be noted that he scored 14 goals in 29 appearances for the club in the 2018 MLS Season. He is naturally gifted player, quick, intelligent and with very good technique.
Carlos Vela did well to win two CONCACAF Gold Cups with Mexico national football team (2009, 2015) and he was named Real Sociedad player of the year in the 2011/2012 and the 2013/2014 seasons. His main position is right winger, but he is used as a second striker and a centre-forward as well.
Highlighted Team (Real Salt Lake):
Real Salt Lake joined Major League Soccer in 2005 as an expansion team of the league and four years later they won their first MLS Cup. The Royals faced star-studded Los Angeles Galaxy in the title game at Qwest Field in Seattle and Jason Kreis’ troops defeated David Beckham and Co. on penalties.
In 2013 Real Salt Lake made it to the MLS Cup final for the second time in the club’s history, but they were beaten by Sporting Kansas City on penalties this time out. The Royals participated in the CONCACAF Champions League final in 2011 as well, but Monterrey of Mexico eventually won the title. Real Salt Lake footballers wear red shirts and blue shorts when playing at home, while the colour of their away kit is white.
The likes of Clint Mathis, Jeff Cunningham and Eddie Pope are some of the notable footballers who played for the club in the past. Jeff Cunningham scored 19 goals in 32 appearances in the league for the Royals.
