Our prediction for this MLS match:
Minnesota United and San Jose Earthquakes face each other at Allianz Field in what is expected to be one of the most exciting games of Sunday’s program. The Loons are on a three-game losing run in the Major League Soccer, but they are still in the race for a spot in the playoffs. Minnesota United are likely to go all guns blazing at the Earthquakes, but this match will be anything but a walk in the park for the home side. Both Robin Lod and Ryen Jiba are sidelined with injuries, but there are no suspended players in the home team.
San Jose, on the other hand, are eager to stay in the playoffs berth and, no doubt, they would be happy with one point from Sunday’s clash. The two teams seem to be evenly matched at the moment and, taking everything into account, the share of spoils is on the cards. Both Jack Skahan and Nathan Cardoso are sidelined with injuries for the away team.
Highlighted Player (Wil Trapp):
Wil Trapp is an American footballer who plays for Columbus Crew in MLS as a midfielder. Born in Columbus, Ohio, Trapp played for Akron Zips during his college career and in 2013 he returned to his hometown club Columbus Crew. Speaking of his club success, Trapp made it to the Eastern Conference play-offs with Columbus in 2015. His main position is defensive midfielder, but he is used as a centre midfielder as well.
The American footballer graduated from Lincoln High School where he was named the 2010 NSCAA National High School Player of the Year.
Highlighted Team (San Jose Earthquakes):
San Jose Earthquakes are members of the Western Conference of Major League Soccer. The Quakes have been participating in the league since 1996 and they won their first MLS Cup trophy in 2001. Back then San Jose outplayed star-studded Los Angeles Galaxy in the title game, but it has to be noted that they scored the winner in the extra time.
Two years later the Quakes managed to repeat the success, with the team beating Chicago Fire in the 2003 MLS Cup final. Avaya Stadium is the home ground of San Jose Earthquakes and the capacity of the venue is 18.000. The construction of the stadium cost no less than $100 million and the venue was opened in March, 2015. The club’s home colors are blue and black, whilst the Quakes wear white and red shirts and white shorts when playing on the travels.
Chris Wondolowski is the club’s biggest star and he has been playing for San Jose Earthquakes since 2009. The USA ace has 121 league goals on his account ahead of the start of the 2017 season.
