Our prediction for this MLS match:
Following a 2-1 loss to Houston Dynamo in the US Open Cup final, Inter Miami will look to return to winning ways when they take on New York City on Sunday morning. Both Leo Messi and Jordi Alba continue to miss out with injuries, while Corentin Jean is a major doubt and the French forward will be assessed ahead of the kick-off. Anyhow, home win should not be considered as we predict that Messi is going to be sorely missed in Sunday’s encounter.
The Blue Pigeons, on the other hand, have been showing signs of improvement of late, with the team beating both Orlando City (2-0) and Toronto FC (3-0) in the previous two league matches and we predict that they will take advantage of Messi’s absence as well. Keep in mind, though, that all Cody Mizell, Maxi Moralez, Alfredo Morales, and Keaton Parks are out of contention with injuries for the visiting team.
Highlighted Player (Alfredo Morales):
Alfredo Morales is an American football player who was born in Berlin on 12 May, 1990. The USA midfielder moved to Germany as a boy and he played for the likes of BSC Reinickendorf 21, Borussia Pankow, FC Concordia Wilhelmsruh and Hertha BSC during his youth career.
Morales played 81 games for Hertha II at senior level, scoring 11 league goals for the capital club. He made 20 appearances for the first team as well, but in 2013 he joined Ingolstadt on a two-year deal. Alfredo Morales was eligible to play for both Germany and USA, but he decided to represent the Yanks on the international level.
The 183-cm-tall midfielder made his USA debut on 29 January, 2013 against Canada. He came as a substitute 15 minutes before the final whistle. It has to be noted that Morales represented United States of America at the 2015 CONCACAF Gold Cup. His main position is central midfield, but he is capable of playing as both centre back and a defensive midfielder.
Highlighted Team (Inter Miami):
Inter Miami is an American football (soccer) club that has been competing in the Major League Soccer since 2020. The Herons faced Los Angeles FC on their MLS debut, with the team suffering a 1-0 loss at Venue Banc of California Stadium.
Inter Miami recorded their first MLS win on August 23, 2020, with the team beating Orlando City 3-2 during the coronavirus pandemic. The Herons wear white shirts and violet shorts when playing at home, while black is the dominant colour of their away jersey. Inter Miami welcome their rivals at Inter Miami FC Stadium, the venue which can hold no more than 18,000 spectators.
The stadium was opened on July 18, 2020. Former Manchester United and England ace David Beckham shares the ownership of the club with the likes of Marcelo Claure, Jorge and Jose Mas, and Masayoshi Son. Uruguay tactician Diego Alonso is the first head coach in the history of the club.
