Czech Republic
Czech Republic will be looking to retain top position in Group E when they face Faroe Islands in Torshavn. The Czechs are without Bayer Leverkusen attacker Patrick Schick (groin injury) and, in his absence, his teammate Adam Hlozek will continue to lead the line for the away team. Yet another man to watch in the visiting side will be West Ham defender Vladimir Coufal, who won the Conference League title with the Hammers earlier this month.
Faroe Islands, meanwhile, played out a 1-1 draw with Moldova in their opener, but they will have a much bigger fish to fry against Czech Republic. Given the number of talented players in Jaroslav Silhavy’s team, away win should be considered. Hakan Ericson is unlikely to make changes to the team that shared the spoils with Moldova in March. When the two teams met in a friendly last year Czech Republic hammered Faroe Islands 5-0.
Highlighted Player (Patrik Schick):
Patrick Schick is a Czech Republic international who plays for Sampdoria as a striker. Schick was born in Prague on January 24, 1996 and he started his career at the youth team of his home-town club Sparta Prague. The 187-cm-tall attacker, played only four games for the capital club before moving to Bohemians 1905 on loan in 2015.
After ending his loan spell with the Klokani, Patrick Schick moved to Italy, signing a deal with Serie A side Sampdoria for a fee of €4 million. The Czech footballer has been playing for La Samp ever since and you should know that he scored 11 goals in 32 appearances for the club in the 2016/2017 Serie A campaign.
The talented striker, who is very good in the air, scored on his debut for Czech Republic in a 6-0 win over Malta in May 2016. Patrick Schick’s preferred foot is left and his contract with Sampdoria should expire on June 30, 2020.

Faroe Islands gained membership of FIFA on July 2, 1988 and they played their first official game on August 24 against Iceland. They were beaten by the Icelanders in Akranes, but two years later they recorded probably the most significant victory in the history of the national team as they defeated Austria 1-0 in Euro 1992 qualifiers.
Faroe Islands have yet to qualify for a major tournament, but they have been making progress year by year. The Landsliðið play their home games at Torsvollur and the capacity of the venue is 6.000. Faroe Islands recorded their biggest win against Gibraltar on March 1, 2014 (4-1) and they suffered their biggest defeat in 1996 when they were beaten 8-1 by Yugoslavia in front of home fans.
In the 2016 European Championship qualifiers Faroe Islands recorded a double victory over Greece, but the minnows eventually failed to book their place at the showpiece tournament in France. The likes of Frodi Benjaminsen, Oli Johannesen, Rogvi Jacobsen, Todi Jonsson and Jakup Mikkelsen are the most notable footballers who played for the Faroe Islands national team.
