Following a 1-1 draw with Slovenia, Croatia will look to return to winning ways when they take on Bulgaria at Education City Stadium. Zlatko Dalic’s troops continue their preparations for the 2022 World Cup finals, and we are positive that the Croatia boss will use this match to test as many players as possible. Real Madrid ace Luka Modric should be given a rest, while all Pasalic, Vida, Vlasic, and Orsic are pushing for a start.
The Bulgarians, on the other hand, aim to make amends for a 2-1 loss to Qatar. Yasen Petrov’s men obviously struggle at the back, and even though the Croats will mix the squad, we predict that the visitors will return home empty-handed from the trip to Al Rayyan. In their last meeting in a competitive match Croatia outplayed Bulgaria 3-0, and we predict that the history will repeat itself.

Luka Modric is regarded as one of the best central midfielders in world football. The Croatian ace is a product of Dinamo Zagreb’s youth school and it has to be noted that he played 94 league games for the Modri between 2003 and 2008. In 2008 he signed a six-year deal with Tottenham Hotspur for a fee of £16.5 million.
Luka made his Tottenham debut on 16 August, 2008 in a 2-1 loss to Middlesbrough at Riverside Stadium. The Croatian star scored only 13 goals in 127 league appearances for the Spurs, but he is well known for his brilliant passing. In 2012 he signed for Real Madrid for a fee of £30 million and he made his debut against Barcelona in the 2012 Spanish Super Cup, return leg.
Modric quickly established himself as a first-team regular and, no doubt, he helped the capital club win two Champions League trophies (2013/2014, 2015/2016). You should bear in mind that he was named Croatian Footballer of the Year in 2007, 2008, 2011 and 2014.

Bulgaria national football team are well known for their “Golden generation” of players led by Hristo Stoichkov. The Bulgarian football legend was producing thrilling performances for the national team at the 1994 FIFA World Cup in USA and he helped the Lions make it to the semi-finals of the tournament.
The likes of Trifon Ivanov, Krasimir Balakov and Yordan Letchkov enjoyed a very successful tournament as well and, no doubt, they recorded a historical result at the 1994 FIFA World Cup. The Bulgarians defeated Germany in the quarter-finals, but Italy proved to be a big catch for Dimitar Penev’s team. Bulgaria eventually suffered a heavy loss to Sweden in the third-place playoffs. Nowadays, Bulgaria struggle in qualifiers for major tournaments and it has to be noted that they have not participated at the finals since 1994.
