Newport County
Cardiff City and Newport Town take on each other in a friendly on Saturday afternoon. The Bluebirds experienced all sorts of problems at the back in a 4-0 loss to Southampton, meaning that they are determined to give fans something to cheer about. All Tomlin, Murphy, Collins, and Vaulks are pushing for a start. You should bear in mind that the Championship side are after their third triumph of the pre-season.
Newport, on the other hand, aim to build on back-to-back wins over Blackpool (3-1) and Chippenham Town (2-1), but seeing that the Bluebirds want this win more than the Exiles, we are tempted to put our money on the Championship outfit. It has to be noted that Newport boss Michael Flynn is likely to test a couple of trialists in Saturday’s friendly.

Souleymane “Sol” Bamba is an Ivory Coast international who plays for Leeds United in the Championship. The defender spent five years in PSG youth school (1999-2004) and he made no more than one league appearance for the first team.
In July 2006 he signed for Scottish team Dunfermline and after spending two years at East End Park, he moved to fellow Scottish Premier League club Hibernian in 2008. Sol Bamba played as a centre back for the Hibs and he was producing brilliant performances with the Easter Road outfit.
The Ivory Coast defender used to play for the likes of Leicester City, Trabzonspor and Palermo in the past as well and on 24 June, 2015 he signed a permanent deal with Leeds United. Bamba made his Ivory Coast debut in 2008 in a friendly game against Israel. Over the years he has established himself as Ivory Coast first-team regular, but he was surprisingly omitted from the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations Ivory Coast squad. Bamba is a 190-cm-tall centre back and he is well known for his aerial skills and brilliant tackles.

Nicknamed the Exiles, Newport County are a Welsh club that welcome their rivals at Rodney Parade. Despite being based in Wales, the club compete in the English League Two. Newport County’s home ground was built in 1904, and it has a capacity of 7,850 people. The club’s home colours are amber shirts and black shorts, with the team wearing black, gray and amber kit when playing on the travels.
Newport County did well to win Welsh Cup in 1980, with the team making it to the FA Trophy in 2012. In 2008 the Latics managed to win the FAW Premier Cup, with the team beating fellow Welsh club Llanelli 1-0 in the title game.
Newport County recorded their biggest league win against Merthyr Town (10-0) on April 10, 1930, with the team suffering their heaviest defeat to Newcastle United (0-13) on October 5, 1946. The club’s record league attendance is 24,268. The record was set on October 16, 1937, when Newport County hosted Cardiff City in a Football League Third Division South game.
