There will be fireworks when Las Palmas and Leganes take on each other at Estadio de Gran Canaria in the Segunda Division round 22. Las Palmas have been impressive in 2021, with the team beating promotion-chasing sides Espanyol and Mallorca, and, no doubt, they are high on spirits ahead of the visit of Leganes. Boss Pepe Mel is likely to adopt yet another defence-minded tactical approach as Las Palmas managed to keep a clean sheet in each of their last two league games.
The capital club, on the other hand, aim to make amends for the Copa del Rey defeat to Sevilla. Leganes are tough to beat at home, but given their anything but good away record, we are tempted to put our money on Las Palmas, who kicked off 2021 in style. Experienced attacker Sergio Araujo, who scored the winner against Mallorca, will be the man to watch in the home team.

Sergio Araujo was born in Buenos Aires on 28 January, 1992 and, as expected, he started playing for his home-town club Boca Juniors. He made just 19 appearances for Boca in the league and he played for the likes of Barcelona B, Tigre and Las Palmas on loan in the past as well.
The Argentine attacker scored 25 goals in 43 appearances for los Amarillos in the 2014/2015 Segunda Division campaign and despite the fact that he was linked with a move to Celtic and Real Sociedad, the club owners managed to sign a permanent deal with the former Boca Juniors footballer.
Araujo has three caps for Argentina U23 team and he represented la Albiceleste at the 2009 FIFA U17 World Cup. It has to be noted that he scored the winner for Argentina in the opening match of the tournament against Honduras. Araujo scored six goals in eight appearances for the Argentina U17 team. The pacey attacker has a contract with Las Palmas which expires on 30 June, 2020.

Leganes are a Spanish football club that have mostly been playing in lower leagues. Los Pepineros play their home games at Batarque (Madrid) and the capacity of the stadium is just 8,138. Leganes secured their promotion to the Spanish La Liga for the first time ever in 2016 and, no doubt, that is considered the club’s biggest success.
Leganes’ bitterest rivals are fellow capital club Getafe and there have always been fireworks when the two teams take on each other in the South Madrid derby.
The colour of the team’s home kit is white and blue, whilst their away kits are green. The likes of Pierre Webo, Samuel Eto’o, Ivan Zarandona, Jose Chamot, Catanha, Ruben Falcon, Jordi Lardin and Pedro Lago are famous players who were part of the Batarque outfit in the past.
