Our prediction for this MLS match:
A place in the MLS Cup playoffs will be at stake when Sporting Kansas City and Minnesota United take on each other at Children’s Mercy Park on Sunday morning. The Wizards aim to build on a 3-2 win over Real Salt Lake and we are positive that they will adopt yet another attack-minded approach in the decider. All Tim Leibold, Kayden Pierre, and Kortne Thompson-Ford miss the last game of the regular season with injuries.
The Loons, on the other hand, did well to crush Los Angeles Galaxy 5-2 in front of home fans at the weekend, but given their back-to-back defeats to LA Galaxy (3-4) and Los Angeles FC (1-5) in their last away games, we are tempted to put our money on the home team. As for the visitors, all Brent Kallman, Joseph Rosales, Robin Lod, and Ryen Jiba miss the trip to Kansas City through injuries.
Highlighted Player (Johnny Russell):
After spending the greatest part of his career at Derby County, Johnny Russell joined Sporting Kansas City in 2018. Russell was born in Glasgow, the capital of Scotland, on April 8, 1990 and he started his youth career at Dundee United.
The 178-cm tall attacker was producing fine performances for the Scottish side from 2007 to 2013 when he moved to Derby County. The Rams booked their place in the Championship on several occassions, but they eventually failed to secure promotion to the Premier League. As a result, Johnny Russell decided to move to MLS, signing a three-year deal with Sporting Kansas city on January 31, 2018.
The Scotland international made his debut for the Wizards in the opening match of the 2019 season against New York City. Speaking of his debut for the national team, he played his first game for Scotland in November 2014 in a 3-1 loss to England. His main position is left winger, but he is capable of playing as both centre-forward and right winger as well.
Highlighted Team (Minnesota United):
Based in the Minneapolis-Saint Paul area, Minnesota United are a professional soccer club that will compete in the Western Conference in the Major League Soccer from 2017. The Loons will make their MLS debut against Portland Timbers on March 4, 2017 and, no doubt, they have big ambitions for the forthcoming season.
Minnesota United are the sixth team to join MLS from a lower division and they will welcome their rivals at TCF Bank Stadium. The capacity of the stadium is 52.525 and it was opened in September, 2009. Bill McGuire is the club’s owner and he is on a quest to turn Minnesota United into a top-table side in the Western Conference.
Adrian Heath will be in charge of the club in the 2017 season and it has to be noted that the English tactician used to train the likes of Manchester City, Everton, Aston Villa and Espanyol in the past. You should know that the club was founded on March 25, 2015.
