Honduras
After sharing the spoils with Uzbekistan in March, Venezuela will look to return to winning ways when they take on Honduras in yet another friendly. La Vinotinto are undefeated in the previous five warm-up games, which is surely giving fans a reason for optimism ahead of Friday’s clash. New boss Fernando Batista will rely on experienced forward Salomon Rondon, who has netted 39 goals for the national team to date.
Los Catrachos, on the other hand, experienced all sorts of problems at the back in the CONCACAF Nations League defeat to Canada (1-4), which is probably the main reason why we are going to bet on the nominal hosts. Olimpia attacker Jorge Benguche is pushing for a recall to the starting XI after scoring as a substitute against the Canucks. When the two teams met in a friendly eight years ago Honduras crushed Venezuela 3-0, meaning that Fernando Batista’s men are hungry for revenge.

Over the years Jose Solomon Rondon has established himself as one of the best South American attackers. The Venezuelan striker was born in Caracas on September 16, 1989 and he played for San Jose de Calasanz at the start of his youth career. He played for the youth teams of Deportivo Guilima and Aragua as well and he continued playing for Aragua at senior level.
After scoring 15 goals in 15 appearances for the club, Salomon Rondon moved to Spain in 2008, signing a deal with La liga side Las Palmas and two years later he moved to fellow Spanish outfit Malaga. The left-footed forward scored 25 goals in 67 appearances in La Liga for los Boquerones, but in the summer of 2012 he moved to Russian club Rubin Kazan.
Despite failing to impress in 36 appearances for the Tatars, Zenit chiefs decided to bring Rondon to Sankt Petersburg in 2014 and it has to be noted that the Venezuela international scored 20 goals in 37 appearances in the Russian Premier League for the Zenitchiki. Salomon Rondon, who made his Venezuela debut in February 2008 against Haiti, currently plays for West Bromwich Albion in the Premier League.

Honduras are a national football team from Central America that qualified for the World Cup finals for the first time in 1982. Los Catrachos did well to share the spoils with hosts Spain at the showpiece tournament, but they eventually failed to book their place in the knockout stages.
Honduras participated at the 2010 and the 2014 FIFA World Cup finals as well, but they failed to impress at the tournaments in South Africa and Brazil. Winning of the 1981 CONCACAF Championship is undisputedly the team’s biggest success and it has to be noted that they finished the final round in top position in the standings, two points clear of El Salvador and three above Mexico.
Los Catrachos were beaten by Canada in the 1985 Gold Cup final, with the team finishing the 1991 tournament as runners-up as well. Wilson Palacios, who used to play for the likes of Tottenham Hotspur and Stoke City as regarded as one of the most notable footballers who represented Honduras national team on the international stage.
