Our prediction for this match:
Toyota Stadium will host Thursday’s friendly between Japan and El Salvador, the two teams who meet for the first time since June 2019. Back then Japan defeated El Salvador 2-0 and the Samurai Blue are seen to win this warm-up game as well. Both Endo and Ueda are pushing for a start after coming off the bench in a 2-1 loss to Colombia. Hajime Moriyasu should stick to the 4-4-2 formation.
La Selecta, on the other hand, are on a four-game losing run in all competitions and given their difficulties in front of goal, anything but a routine home win would be a big surprise. American tactician Hugo Perez is likely to use this friendly to test as many players as possible. Joaquin Rivas, who has netted four goals in 31 appearances for the national team, will be the man to watch in the away team.
