Our prediction for this match:
South Korea and Uruguay square off against each other at Seoul World Cup Stadium in what is expected to be a close contest. The Koreans shared the spoils with Colombia on Friday, with Tottenham Hotspur ace Son Heung-Min scoring a brace. The opposition back-line should have him at bay once again, whereas all Lee Kang-In, Lee Ki-Je, and Na Sang-Ho are pushing for recalls to the starting XI.
La Celeste, on the other hand, went on the Asian tour without attacking duo Luis Suarez – Edinson Cavani, which is probably the main reason why we are going to bet on under 2.5 goals. A man to keep an eye on in the away team will be Real Madrid midfielder Federico Valverde, who found the net in a 1-1 draw with Japan, while new boss Marcelo Broli should introduce some fresh legs against South Korea. All Jonathan Rodriguez, Facundo Torres, and Felipe Carballo are vying for spots in the starting line-up.
Highlighted Player (Heung-min Son):
Over the years Son Heung-Min has established himself as one of the best Asian footballers. Son is a Tottenham Hotspur first-team regular and he played a very important role in Mauro Pochettino’s team in the 2017/2018 Premier League campaign, scoring 12 goals, while making 37 appearances in the process.
The South Korean footballer, who is well known for his speed and a very powerful shot, was born in Chuncheo on 8 July 1992 and he began his youth career at FC Seoul. In 2008 he moved to Hamburger SV, but he made his senior debut for the Bundesliga club two years later. In 2013 he signed a deal with fellow German side Bayer Leverkusen and he scored 21 goals in 62 appearances in the Bundesliga for the BayArena outfit.
In 2015 he signed a five-year contract with Spurs for a fee of £22 million. Son Heung-min made his South Korea debut in a friendly against Syria in 2010.
Highlighted Team (Uruguay):
La Celeste are one of the most successful South American nations. Uruguay are frequently the champions of the continent having most recently won the tournament in 2011. They have won the Copa America a record 15 times including the first ever edition of the competition in 1916, while the team has also won FIFA World Cup in two occasions including the inaugural competition in 1930 when they defeated Argentina 4-2 in the final as hosts.
Their second World Cup title came in 1950 when Uruguay and Brazil played a legendary match which recorded a higher attendance than any other football match in the history of the game. Uruguay is the smallest country in the world to have won a World Cup by population, but La Celeste are proud of their football heritage which yielded some of the best footballers in the world over the course of history.
Most notable player of the current selection is Barcelona striker Luis Suarez, who is also the team’s top scorer with 45 goals to his name.
