Girona
All eyes will be on Visit Mallorca Estadi when Mallorca and Girona face each other in the Segunda Division derby. Mallorca quickly bounced back from a shocking 1-0 loss to Las Palmas, with the team beating Rayo Vallecano in Madrid 3-1. Los Bermellones are eager to overtake Espanyol in top position in the standings, and given their brilliant home record, it is no wonder the bookies see Luis Garcia Plaza’s troops as favourites to win Saturday’s match.
The Catalan side, on the other hand, did well to beat Espanyol in the local derby at the weekend thanks to Moreno’s goal, but they will have a much bigger fish to fry against Mallorca. Since Girona are not regarded as good travellers, we are tempted to put our money on los Bermellones. In the first half of the season Salva Sevilla’s goal helped Mallorca beat Girona 1-0 at Estadio Municipal de Montilivi.
Highlighted Player (Aleksandar Trajkovski):
Aleksandar Trajkovski is a Macedonian international who played for Cementarnica 55 during his youth career. He made 11 league appearances for the club at senior level as well and in 2010 he moved to Croatian team Inter Zapresic.
The attacking midfielder failed to prove his worth in the 2010/2011 season and, as a result, he was sold to Zulte Waregem in the summer of 2011. He played an important role in the Belgian team from 2011 to 2015 as he scored 11 goals in 83 league appearances for the club. It has to be noted, though, that Trajkovski spend the 2013/2014 season on loan at Mechelen. In 2015 he was named Macedonian Footballer of the Year and the same year he signed a contract with Italian side Palermo.
Speaking of his international career, Aleksandar Trajkovski has 15 caps for Macedonia U21 and he made his debut for the senior team on 10 August, 2011 in a friendly against Azerbaijan.
Highlighted Team (Girona):
After several unsuccessful attempts, finally secured promotion to Primera Division at the end of the 2016/2017 season. The Catalan outfit finished the campaign in second place in the standings, 14 points behind Levante and only two clear of third-placed Getafe. Girona play their home games at Montilivi and the capacity of the venue is 9.286.
Speaking of the club history, Girona were founded in the café Norat in La Rambla of Girona on July 23, 1930 and they played their first official game against Colonia Artigas. A number of Spanish coaches were in charge of the team in the past, but it has to be noted that Uruguayan tactician Dagoberto Moll (1965/1966) and Karoly Plattko (1948/1949) of Hungary were in charge of the club as well.
The Catalan team wear white shirts with red stripes when playing at home, while the colour of their shorts is blue. The team’s away kits are blue and black and Sporting Gijon are considered one of Girona’s fiercest rivals.
