At the start of his senior career, the Dominican footballer played for both Villarreal B and Villarreal C before joining Marbella.
After scoring two goals in 63 appearances in the league for los Blanquillos, Carlos Julio Martinez moved to Mirandes in the summer of 2018. Speaking of his international career, Martinez made his debut with the Dominican Republic national team on December 8, 2012 in a 2-1 win over Antigua and Barbuda in the Caribbean Cup.
His primary position is right-back, but he can be used as a right midfielder as well. Carlos Julio Martinez was born in Santo Domingo de Guzman, Dominican Republic, and he has a dual citizenship.
