Our prediction for this Segunda Division match:
Ponferradina and Alcorcon take on each other at Estadio El Toralin in the Segunda Division round 24. Ponferradina are eager to bounce back from a 1-0 loss to Zaragoza, and we are positive that they will fight tooth and nail against Alcorcon. La Ponfe dominated the game against Zaragoza, especially in the second half, and, no doubt, they are capable of beating los Alfareros on home soil. Alcorcon, on the other hand, suffered yet another dip in form.
Following a goalless draw with Fuenlabrada, Juan Antonio Anquela’s men were beaten by Albacete and Malaga in the previous two league fixtures. Considering that los Alfareros are low on confidence ahead of the trip to the El Bierzo region, we believe that there is a big value in betting on La Ponfe. In the first half of the season Kaxe’s goal helped Ponferradina defeat Alcorcon.
Highlighted Player (Curro Sanchez):
Curro Sanchez is a Spanish footballer who plays for Ponferradina in Segunda Division. Born in La Palma del Condado on January 3, 1996, Sanchez began his youth career at Siempre Alegres, but in 2007 he was spotted by Sevilla scouts.
Curro Sanchez did not hesitate at all, signing a contract with the famous La Liga side. To make things even better for the Andalusian, he made his senior debut with Sevilla in La liga on May 4, 2016 in a 1-1 draw with Deportivo La Coruna. Curro Sanchez then joined Numancia, where he scored 13 goals in 34 appearances in Segunda Division for los Numantinos.
In 2020 he signed a deal with La Liga 2 side Ponferradina. Sanchez made his la Ponfe debut in a 2-0 win over Albacete on September 20, 2020. Even though right winger is his primary position, Curro Sanchez is capable of producing fine performances as an attacking midfielder as well.
Highlighted Team (Alcorcon):
Founded on July 20, 1971, Alcorcon have been competing in Segunda Division since the 2010/11 season. Los Alfareros welcome their rivals at Santo Domingo, the stadium opened in 1999. The venue has the capacity of 5,100 people. Alcorcon have made it to the Segunda Division playoffs on several occasions, but they have never participated in La Liga.
The club’s biggest success in Copa del rey came in the 2009/10 season when they made it to the last 16 of the prestigious competition. Alcorcon suffered a 3-2 (on agg.) loss to Racing Santander in the round of 16. The club’s home colour is yellow, while their away kit is mainly blue.
Los Alfareros played their first official game on September 8, 1971, with the team losing 2-0 to Atletico Madrid youth team. The likes of Cordoba and Leganes are regarded as the club’s main rivals, while David Rodriguez is the club’s all-time top goalscorer.
