Australia
England will be aiming to build on a 3-1 win over Scotland when they take on Australia in yet another friendly. The Three Lions have been scoring goals for fun in 2023 and they are likely to stick to their attacking style of play. Both Jarrod Bowen and Ollie Watkins have been recalled to the squad, with Man City defender John Stones returning from injury.
As always, a man to watch in the home team will be Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane, who has already netted eight goals in the new Bundesliga campaign. The Socceroos, on the other hand, played out a 2-2 draw with Mexico in their last warm-up game and given their shaky defence, anything but a routine home win would be a big surprise. Fit-again St. Pauli man Jackson Irvine made the cut, as well as talented trio Alex Robertson – Mohamed Toure – Patrick Yazbek.
Highlighted Player (Harry Kane):
Widely regarded as one of England’s best strikers at the moment, Harry Kane enjoyed a meteoric rise at Tottenham Hotspur, scoring 21 Premier League goals during the 2014/2015 campaign to be voted PFA Young Player of the Year.
The highly rated striker went on to surpass that achievement the following season as he helped Tottenham Hotspur mount a serious title challenge for the first time in club’s recent history and he made seamless transition to international football. Kane scored four goals in his first ten appearances for England to prove he was here to stay and at the same time established himself as a first choice striker in Roy Hodgson’s squad ahead of the Euro 2016 finals.
Kane is a modern striker, who is extremely dangerous in the opposition box, but it was some outstanding goals from distance as well as link-up play with teammates that earned him an excellent reputation in world football. Kane is expected to lead both Tottenham and England in years to come, that is if he can resist the lure of top European clubs that continue to cast admiring glances his way.

Australia are a member of the Asian Football Confederation as they left the Oceania Football Confederation in 2006. The Socceroos made it to the World Cup finals for the first time back in 1974, but they failed to make it to the knockout stages of the showpiece tournament in Germany. In 2006, though, the Australians did well to advance to the last 16 of the FIFA World Cup, but eventual champions Italy proved to be a big catch for Guus Hiddink’s troops.
Australia participated at the World Cup finals in 2010 and 2014 as well, but they failed to impress at the tournaments in South Africa and Brazil respectively. In 2015 the Socceroos won the Asian Cup trophy, with the team beating South Korea in the title game and that is regarded as the team’s biggest success.
Tim Cahill is considered one of the most famous footballers that played for Australia and it has to be noted that the former Premier League star scored his 48th goal for the Socceroos in a 1-0 win over UAE in September, 2016.
