Serie A 2019/2020 Preview

Yet another exciting Serie A campaign is just around corner, with Juventus once again being considered No. 1 favourites to win Scudetto according to our Serie A predictions.

The Bianconeri are determined to defend their Serie A trophy, but the likes of Napoli, Roma, Inter and Milan will surely give 100% to put an end to Juve’s dominance in the Italian top flight.

There have been a number of changes during the summer transfer window and it remains to be seen whose buying is going to prove to be fruitful in the 2019/2020 Serie A campaign.

Race for the title

Juventus clinched the 2018/2019 Serie A title in style, with the team finishing the campaign 11 points clear of second-placed Napoli. Juve’s advantage should have been even bigger if coach Massimiliano Allegri hadn’t mixed the squad in the season finale.

The Bianconeri are on a quest to win their ninth consecutive Scudetto and seeing that the likes of Matthijs de Ligt, Danilo, Cristian Romero, Luca Pellegrini, Merih Demiarl, Aaron Ramsey, Adrien Rabiot and Gianluigi Buffon joined the Old Lady in the summer transfer window, it is no surprise bookmakers see them as the main favourites to win the title.

New coach Maurizio Sarri is brought to Allianz Stadium to help the Italian giants go all the way in the Champions League and seeing that Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo is still part of the team, Juve’s dream could turn into reality.

Inter are likely to play an important role in the 2019/2020 Serie A season as well as powerful Manchester United forward Romelu Lukaku joined the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza outfit earlier this summer.

€22 million signing Matteo Politano is expected to shine in the upcoming season as well and seeing that Valentino Lazaro, Nicolo Barella, Ionut Radu, Eddie Salcedo, Diego Godin, Stefano Sensi and Gabriel Brazao joined the club as well, Italian football experts believe that the Nerazzurri will secure a top-four finish without any difficulties.

Napoli should not be written off just yet as well as coach Carlo Ancelotti did well to keep hold of key players in the summer transfer window.

Leonardo Spinazzola, Bryan Cristante and Amadou Diawara are considered Roma’s biggest signings of the summer, whereas Real Madrid left-back Theo Hernandez is widely expected to help the Rossoneri improve defensively.

Atalanta will play on three fronts this time out as they represent Italy in the Champions League for the first time ever, meaning that tired legs could prove to be a big problem for the Orobici in the upcoming season.

Lazio, on the other hand, whose chiefs managed to keep hold of Ciro Immobile and Sergej Milinkovic-Savic in the summer, are eyeing a place in European competitions.

Relegation contenders

Despite the fact that Brescia chiefs reinforced the squad in the summer transfer window, le Rondinelle, who return to the Serie A following an eight-year absence, are regarded as one of the main favourites to suffer relegation to the Italian second tier at the end of the season.

Summer signing Mario Balotelli is undisputedly the team’s key player, but his teammates will have to leave their hearts in every single match in the 2019/2020 season as well if they are to secure the top flight survival.

The likes of Parma, SPAL and Cagliari are among the candidates to suffer relegation to the Serie B, with Sassuolo, who sold several first-team regulars in the summer, being expected to struggle in the 2019/2020 season as well.
